Excellent Old School Game
TL;DR:
This game is much better than one poster who called it a “Nostalgia Bomb” gave it credit for. It doesn’t play like a modern too-easy content-lite RPG, but that’s what makes it great!
Longer Review:
If you like a game that actually has a story (read: tons of voice overs, but you’ll also do a lot of reading to get best value out of the story line) and that requires you to think a little, this is a real winner.
Depending on your Mac, you may want to turn down the screen resolution and/or shadow quality a little. On my 27” late 2009 iMac turning down shadow quality to medium made a huge difference.
It’s not an especially hard game, but you will certainly die if you don’t think about what you’re doing or if you roam off into too high of a level for your characters.
In some ways the game reminds me a bit of the old Ultima series games, but with much nicer graphics and sound, which is exactly what I was hoping for. :-)
To sum it up, $40 well spent. Now back to the game….
