Divinity - Original Sin App Reviews
Well worth the money! Inside out, this is a well built RPG with simple enough controls, awesome graphics and an engaging story! It’ll definately have re-playability too. What more could you ask for?
Awesome old-school, turn-based RPG. Extremely detailed graphics, dense story, so many nooks and crannies and details to explore. Perfect for people who like to really immerse themselves in a game and let the storyline unfold. That being said, you will want to have a lot of free time available (or excellent self-control) to walk away from this game - it’s very easy to get lost in it for hours, and hours, and hours.
HORRIBLE
Incredibly slow to a point that its unplayable. I want a refund!
I really want a refund ! it is a horrible hunt and peck through tedious dialogues with little action. Save every minute because if you leave town you constantly get slaughtered. This is very frustrating. especially when a quick save fails. save save save….
One of the best RPG’s in years. Combines the feel of IWD and BG with step-by-step mechanics. Very nice gameplay and its the first game in years that actually had me thinking about strategies instead of “tanking” my way through with a big ass sword.
BEAUTIFUL GAME BUT BAD LANGUAGE!!
When the Italian Language?? the Translation is still avaiable on steam version!! Probably a 5 star game!
TL;DR: This game tries to be too many things and fails at every possible turn. Longer Review: This game is another in a series of games released via Kickstarter. This is far from being a bad thing outright, however it should tell the careful reader that the primary value of this game is in its nostalgic quality. Aside from that there is no real reason to play this game. There is a LOT of story - literally everyone, even enemies, have stories that are long, dry, and pointless - with almost no direction for where to go or what to do. You will die to dumb encounters that are above your head. A LOT. Your characters are made from foil and hope, everything else, even DOORS, have hundreds of hitpoints and laugh off your attacks. Controls for camera rotation are arcane so enjoy your one perspective on a clearly 3-D environment. The journal is more or less useless. There is also no clear guide for how to properly level your character, no clear guide for the crafting system, no clear guide for weapons, armor, spells, or anything else that might be important. I get it, modern games hold your hand a bit much, but if I wanted so little infomration I would install Dark Souls and at least have better controls, graphics, environment, and storyline.
The graphics are amazing. I like the turn based fighting compared to some RPGs. I like that you can interact with many items. The crafting seems a little complex, but I have not played long enough yet. Overall for this style its one of the better ones.
Some people dislike games that are a challenge, the storys can be rather long but often teach you alot about the envierment and dangers ahead, NOT FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN This game gives a fairly hard challenge but if it didn’t there would be no point in the game Though if your looking for a easy game look some where else, But if you now what you doing in a RPG than this is definatly up there.
TL;DR: This game is much better than one poster who called it a “Nostalgia Bomb” gave it credit for. It doesn’t play like a modern too-easy content-lite RPG, but that’s what makes it great! Longer Review: If you like a game that actually has a story (read: tons of voice overs, but you’ll also do a lot of reading to get best value out of the story line) and that requires you to think a little, this is a real winner. Depending on your Mac, you may want to turn down the screen resolution and/or shadow quality a little. On my 27” late 2009 iMac turning down shadow quality to medium made a huge difference. It’s not an especially hard game, but you will certainly die if you don’t think about what you’re doing or if you roam off into too high of a level for your characters. In some ways the game reminds me a bit of the old Ultima series games, but with much nicer graphics and sound, which is exactly what I was hoping for. :-) To sum it up, $40 well spent. Now back to the game….
The game is excellent in the genre of classic RPG! Story line in engaging throughout. Importantly, the game is stable with no major glitches. Kudos to Larian Studios!
much better than expected
Has given me more hours of thoroughly enjoyable gaming than any other game in recent memory.
Divinity Original Sin
Downloaded game on brand new higher-spec’d Imac but won’t open or run on my system.
My system crashes every time I begin program. I cant make it through the character generation. I have 10.8.5 OSX but that is minimum and supposedly is covered. I am hoping to love game once I can run it.
Where is the English
The audio is in English, but the text is not. Being deaf, I need English text. How do I get the game to use English text???
Divinity. Original Sin
A great game until I upgraded to El Capitan. The support team was unable to fix the problem and suggested work-arounds didn’t do the trick.
I read several reviews on this game, so I bought it. I don’t really get it? To me, this game is very confusing. I understand it is turn based, but it is not clear what you can do during these turns. This would be a fantastic game if it were more like diablo, that is, the combat in real time. Great graphics and awesome atmosphere are ruined by very confusing battling system :(
Won’t Run on New iMac
Top of the line iMac 5k w/4Gig Video Card and 32GB’s of Ram - and this app just crashes at launch. Come on, Larian. Let’s get a patch out here.
just as the title says… its… not… really the… (best?) to buy it here. Try steam or a disc (if they have one) the app constantly crashes in the middle of important battles or as im saving. if you can look past that the gameplay is impeccable and i really love it other than the lack of explaination for many things other than that its fine. >:D enjoy
I’m only writing this because there’s no way to submit feedback directly to someone who will read it on their website. There are a couple glaring omissions from the navigation/UI features that should be addressed definitely by subsequent games and it would be worth to update in this game: The map zoom level is always reset when you go back to the map screen. Really, really dumb. I can’t zoom out enough in the world. Some buildings are just really big, and they are actually sized to scale since there is no transition between the outside world and entering a building. Do whatever you need to support a ‘really zoomed out’ mode, i.e. a much-reduced polygon count for everything, reduced textures etc. Last, and related to the zooming problem above, is there’s no way to order the troop to a far location without scrolling there in the world. What we need is a way to change the world viewport by clicking on the map, the view should jump to that location. This is what every other overhead RPG has done. I just changed the rating to 3 stars after playing for awhile (starting the second area), because the game has major problems with difficulty management. There are no random encounters, so it’s impossible to do ‘leveling. This should ALWAYS be an option. And the equipment system places WAY too much emphasis on constantly finding upgrades, which is not easy. Cmon, damage at level 1 starts at 10-20, but by level 4 or 5 (I think) your leads need to dish at least 100.
